Structure of Corn Sheller

The function of the corn sheller is to thresh the corn ear after drying. Most of them are axial flow drum type and vertical threshing disc type. Because of its high production efficiency, good threshing quality, simple operation, simple structure, strong and durable, sturdiness and durability, reliable work, and convenient use and maintenance, it has been popular with farmers. Corn sheller is mainly composed of drum, concave plate, screen, fan, feeding bucket, grain slide plate, and spiral guide rods.

Working Principle of Corn Sheller

It adopts the axial flow threshing device of tangential feeding shaft end row cob. The process flow: corn ear enters the drum through the feeding bucket, and is threshed under the impact of high-speed rotary drum and the interaction of corn ear, drum, and concave plate. Most of the removed grains and small impurities pass through the concave holes and are cleaned by the fan. The light mixed materials are blown out from the trash outlet, and the grains slide out of the machine by the grain slide plate. The cob moves backward along the axial direction of the drum and is discharged out of the machine through the surface of the vibrating screen from the outlet of the shaft end. Part of the grains entrained in the cob leaks through the sieve holes and enters the grain slide to slide out of the machine.

Design Requirement of Corn Sheller

1.In order to ensure the smooth feeding of the corn ear without blocking the drum, the bottom of the hopper should have a certain inclination, and the entrance into the drum should be inclined to the side where the drum rotates downward.

2.The arrangement of the cob discharge port and the grain discharge port should be kept at a certain distance to avoid mixing of cob and grain.A certain distance should be kept between the rachis outlet and the grain outlet to avoid the mixture of rachis and grain.The productivity of corn sheller depends on the size of supporting power. Its power consumption can be calculated based on the work of 1 kW·h that can thresh 600-1000 kg of peeled corn ears. When corn ear is threshed directly without shelling, the productivity is reduced by about 30% to 50%.

Using Precautions for Corn Sheller

Pay attention to the following matters when using the corn sheller:

1.Because the working environment of sheller is very bad, it is necessary to educate the personnel involved in the operation on safe operation in advance to make them understand the operating procedures and safety knowledge, such as tight sleeves, wearing masks and protective glasses, etc.

2.Before use, it is necessary to carefully check whether the rotating parts are flexible without collision, whether the adjusting mechanism is normal, and whether the safety facilities are complete and effective, to ensure that there are no impurities in the machine, and all lubricating parts are filled with lubricating oil.

3.Before starting the machine, the operation site shall be cleaned, and no debris that has nothing to do with threshing should not be placed, children should be prohibited from playing on the edge of the site to avoid accidents.

4.When working, corn cob should be fed evenly, and strictly prevent stones, sticks, and other hard objects from being fed into the machine.

5.The joint of the transmission belt should be firm and it is strictly forbidden to take off and hang the belt or touch any object to the transmission part when the machine is running.

6.The transmission ratio between supporting power and sheller should meet the requirements, so as to avoid personal injury accidents caused by excessively high speed and severe vibration of thresher, which may damage parts or loosen fasteners.

7.It is not allowed to work continuously for a long time, generally work for about 8 hours to shut down for inspection, adjustment, and lubrication to prevent serious friction causing wear, heat, or deformation.

8.When the sheller is powered by a diesel engine, a fire cover should be worn on the exhaust pipe to prevent fire.

If the sheller breaks down during the operation, it should be shut down before maintenance and adjustment.
