Technology丨How to reduce the ore sample?

Mineral samples refer to a small number of representative ore samples collected from ore bodies or mined ore in order to study the quality of minerals. Generally, the pile cone method and the rolling method are used to mix the ore samples, and then the quartet method and the dichotomy method are used to reduce the ore samples so that the ore samples reach the required sample weight. Here is a detailed introduction to these four methods.

Mineral samples

1. Heap cone method

This method is used for mixing a large number of materials, and the mixing operation can be carried out on steel plates and sweeping cement floors. The method is to first center the ore sample at a certain point, and slowly pour the pre-mixed ore sample toward the center point to form the first cone-shaped ore pile, and then the ore pile is positioned opposite to each other from the bottom of the cone in the same direction. Shovel the ore samples in order and place them at another central point nearby, and pile them into a new cone-shaped ore pile. Repeat this several times to mix the ore samples evenly. Generally, mixing 3 to 4 times is appropriate. The cone-shaped ore pile after the first mixing can also be pushed out from the center to form a ring, and then the ore sample can be shoveled from the outside of the ring to the center of the ring to slowly fall down to form a new cone. Repeat this time until the mixing is up.

2. Rolling method

Fine-grained, small amounts of mineral samples are suitable for mixing with this method. Choose to pile the ore sample in the center of the tarpaulin, then lift a corner of the cloth, and use the cloth lifting a hand to push the ore sample on the surface of the cloth to make the ore sample roll. After rolling a certain distance across the diagonal, lift the diagonal Do the same rolling of the ore sample, and after the four corners are lifted in turn, repeat this several times to mix well. If the nature of the ore changes greatly, it needs to be repeated many times, and vice versa.

3. Quadrant

First pile the mixed ore sample into a cone, then cut it with a thin plate to a certain depth of the ore pile, then rotate the plate to flatten the ore pile into a disc shape, and then draw a cross-line through the center point to divide it into four fan-shaped parts, Take the diagonal part and merge it into the required ore sample. If the amount of ore is too large, then perform a reduction until it meets the required weight.

4. Divider method

The dichotomy is made of thin plates. In order for the material to pass through the small groove smoothly, the width of the small groove should be 3 to 4 times larger than the largest ore size in the material. This method is generally used for the reduction of materials with less than 10 mm and low weight. When in use, the two sides are connected with a box first, and then the ore sample is slowly poured along the entire length of the upper end of the dichotomy. Or slowly pour it back and forth along its length, so that the material is divided into two parts, one of which is the required mineral sample. If the amount is still large, then scale down again until the required weight is reached.
