Grinding medium of Rod Milling

The medium used in the rod milling is round steel rods which are 10 ~ 15% shorter than the cylinder length. In order to prevent the inclination of the steel rod during the operation of the mill, the end cover lining plates at both ends of the rod mill cylinder are usually made of straight end faces perpendicular to the axis of the mill, and the length to diameter ratio of the mill barrel should be maintained at 1.5 to 2.0 and adopts non-smooth liners such as wave or step. The diameter of the hollow journal at the discharge end is much larger than that of the overflow ball mill of the same specification, in order to speed up the slurry passing through the rod mill.

Grinding Process of Rod Milling

When the rod mill machine is running, there is line contact between the steel rods in the cylinder. First, crush the material with larger particle size. When the steel rods are driven to rise, the coarse particles are often clamped between the rod and the rod, and the fine particles are easy to leak from the gap of the rod with the slurry. Therefore, there is a "screening and grading" effect between the rods, which makes the rod milling equipment have strong "selective grinding" characteristics.
