Basic Principles of Gravity Separation in Ore Dressing
The density difference between rare earth minerals and gangue minerals is used for sorting. Commonly used gravity separation equipment includes a spiral concentrator, shaker, etc. Gravity separation in ore dressing is mainly used to separate rare earth minerals from low-density quartz, calcite, and other gangue minerals in order to achieve the purpose of pre-enrichment or obtaining rare earth concentrates. It is widely used in the production of seashore placer and sometimes as a means of preconcentration in the beneficiation of rare earth vein ores.
Additional factors that interfere with settlement
(1) The viscosity of fluid medium increases, resulting in an increase of medium resistance.
(2) The relative velocity between particles and the medium increases, which leads to an increase of settling resistance.
(3) In a certain case, the buoyancy effect of particle settlement becomes larger.
